These rules are to be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf and temporary Local Rules<\/p>\n
GROUND UNDER REPAIR<\/strong><\/p>\n STAKED TREES AND STAKED SHRUBS IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (EG SPRINKLER HEADS) CLOSE TO PUTTING GREENS \u2013 LINE OF PLAY INTERFERENCE IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS <\/strong><\/p>\n PROVISION BALL FOR BALL IN PENALTY AREA TIO’S<\/strong> <\/span>–<\/p>\n All cart directional signs, stakes & ropes are to be treated as TIO\u2019s.\u00a0 Relief from a TIO is normally allowed when there is a physical interference or line of sight interference & the player can take \u201ceither Side relief\u201d option.<\/p>\n Definition of TIO:<\/strong> A temporary immovable obstruction (TIO) is a structure that is temporarily added on or next to the course, usually for a particular competition, and is fixed or not readily movable. Any ball coming to rest in new seeded or turf areas close to cart paths are entitled to relief under GUR.<\/span><\/p>\n Relief from Tree Roots in Fairway<\/strong><\/span> –<\/p>\n If a player\u2019s ball is at rest in a portion of the general area cut to fairway height or less and there is interference from exposed tree roots that are in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the tree roots are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b. Preferred Lies on Closely Mown Areas<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n When any part of a player’s ball touches part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:<\/p>\n Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, the player must place it on a spot within 6 inches<\/u><\/strong> of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a hazard or on a putting green.<\/p>\n A player may place his ball only once, and it is in play when it has been placed. If the ball when placed comes to rest on the spot on which it is placed and subsequently moves, there is no penalty and the ball must be played as it lies, unless the provisions of any other Rule apply.<\/p>\n If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it or, on a closely-mown area, moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, they incur a penalty of one stroke.<\/p>\n Note: “Closely-mown area” means any area of the course, including paths through the rough, cut to fairway height or less.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Bare Patches<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n If a player\u2019s ball comes to rest in a bare area on closely mown areas of the fairways, greens and aprons of greens it is to be treated as GUR and players may seek relief. Rule 33-2 and 33-8. Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for a breach of a Local Rule is the general penalty.<\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>\u201cStaked trees and shrubs are NO PLAY ZONES and are ground under repair (the GUR includes the state and any wrapping).\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
<\/strong>Rule 16.1b applies to immovable obstructions close to putting greens.\u00a0 In addition to the types of interference described in Rule 16.1a, interference also exists if an immovable obstruction is: on the player\u2019s line of play, and is within two club-lengths of the putting green, and is within two club-lengths of the ball.\u00a0 (Exception \u2013 There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.)\u201d<\/p>\n\n
<\/strong>Relief for ball in Penalty area when playing holes 3 & 4.
If a player does not know whether their ball is in the penalty area on holes 3 & 4, the player may play a provisional ball under Rule 18.3.
Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for a breach of a Local Rule is the general penalty.
