For the last few years we have been lucky enough to run a Fanwah Board (located in the Sports Bar) dedicated to those who hit a ‘Fanwah’ (where the ball doesn’t make it past the women’s tee). What began as a laugh between friends has now turned into a fun fundraising effort amongst Members, where the money collected from the fines throughout the year is donated to a local not-for-profit organisation.
This years fines roughly amounted to $300 but after some generous donations at the conclusion of the Club’s Christmas Ambrose we were able to raise a total of $616.
Current Fanwah Jacket holder, Jeff Herdman, selected Baw Baw Food Relief as his charity of choice. The money raised from the Fanwah fines was used to purchase groceries that were then donated to Baw Baw Food Relief before Christmas.
Baw Baw Food Relief provides food aid and support for families and individuals in need in the Baw Baw Shire. They rely on assistance of local organisations and donations to operate. Demand for food relief is currently high in our community and it is organisations like these who provide the support and aid to those in need.
Quote from Baw Baw Food Relief:
Thankyou to the Warragul country club golfers for their fundraising to help feed the need at Food Relief . Thanks Linda for bringing the loads of food to us.
I would like to thank all Members for allowing the Fanwah Board to be the fun it is intended for. This years winner will be announced soon.
