Dear Members,
Due to the current Covid restrictions funeral attendance is restricted to 50 people.  As a consequence, the Club will effectively close the venue from 11am to 2pm on Monday 7th June 2021, to live stream the funeral into the Club’s functions room.
The funeral service commences at 11am.  There are only 50 seats available at the Club.   Only Golf Members can attend and bookings via the enclosed booking sheet is essential.

Members are asked to book on a first in first serve basis.  Entry will be through the function room entrance only and QR code scanning is required.
The Club will open the bar at the completion of the service and offer some light refreshments as we celebrate the life of a great Clubman of the Warragul Country Club.

Important update regarding golf bookings

Important update regarding golf bookings

Following on from the Club’s earlier communication regarding the easing of restrictions to Regional Victoria from Friday 4th June 2021, under guidance from our lawyers, we are forced to follow the guidelines set of 50 people on course at any one time.
With this new information, the Club is now forced to make changes to the upcoming week’s golf bookings.
Changes to timesheets Saturday 5th – Thursday 10th June 2021
This Saturday’s field and other timesheets for the next week are not compliant with the current Covid restrictions.  As a result all current timesheets will be cancelled. New rules are as follows:

  • New timesheets will open at 3:00pm today for all timesheets for Saturday 5th – 10th June and members are asked to re book their rounds on the new timesheets. (Carts if required)
  • Note: There is no need to delete your current booking as we will remove these timesheets.
  • Introduction of one tee starts all days.
  • Morning Tee times are from 7:15am – 8:52am.
  • Midday Tee times are from 11:14am – 12:42pm.
  • Afternoon Tee times are from 3:30pm – 4:30pm
  • Maximum 4 players per group.
  • Members are asked to not book two days consecutively to give all Members a chance to play the course.
  • Strictly no visitors or guests unless approved by Director of Golf.

Please note that IF there are vacant tee times available, Members may play two days in a row. But please allow your fellow member an opportunity to book first.  Pro Shop staff will monitor this.
New rules for ALL days
Further to the above changes and to avoid Members congregating and exceeding our density patron cap, the following rules have been put in place for all days for the foreseeable future.

  • Members are not to congregate around the Pro Shop or the course.
  • All putting greens and practice fairway are closed until just before your tee time.
  • Members are asked to park at the back of the Clubhouse near the practice fairway and gravel carpark. Members with trailers will have the option to park in front car park.
  • Players are to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before their tee time and then proceed to register at the pro shop.

I understand that these rules may appear extreme, however, these are the rules that we must adhere to until new directives are given.
In regards to using the clubhouse facilities after your game, golfers will be counted towards the venue 50 capacity density limit.  We ask members to please adhere to staff instructions in regards to capacity limitations.
* These restrictions will be reviewed regularly to ensure they are compliant with COVID-19 National and State Health Compliance requirements and may be subject to amendment at very short notice.
Yours in Golf
Heath
Director of Golf

Vale ~ John McDonough

Vale ~ John McDonough

The Board wishes to advise Members of the unfortunate passing of long time Club Member John McDonough. After a battle with cancer he passed away on 2nd June 2021.
John was well known in the Gippsland community where he worked and established many friendships as the local barber in Drouin.
He was Captain of the Club in 1989-90 and again in 2003-2004. He was vice-captain before his second stint of Captain in 2003-04.
John was a long serving member of the Club since 1984, a passionate golfer and a great volunteer in many ways.  He was the organizer for the annual Christmas Ambrose which included organising sponsors and setting the course up for a great experience. He was also a great contributor to the Warragul Ladies Golf programme sponsoring a number of their events over the years.
Whilst John’s outstanding service is well known it was his character and personal attributes that he will be well remembered for. Always positive, encouraging, time for everyone, great company, these were the hallmarks that made John so widely respected and admired within the Club.
John was an outstanding member of this Club and it is members like John that make this Club the great Club that it is. He will be sadly missed by all.
The Club extends its heartfelt condolences to Heather, Scott, Sherrin and all the McDonough family.
John was aged 70.

Thank you,
Michael Hodge
Chief Executive Officer
