The Board wishes to advise Members of the unfortunate passing of long time Club Member and Life Member, Annie Boyer. Annie joined the Club on 24th May 1972 and recently achieved the 50-year membership milestone. Throughout her 50 years, Annie made a significant volunteer contribution to our Club through her role on the Women’s Golf Committee, where she was President in 1999 and 2000, Captain in 2004 and 2005 and served over a decade, as Women’s Golf Handicapper. Annie also made a significant contribution to Women’s Golf West Gippsland, having been a member of their Match Committee for 20 years.
Annie’s name adorns our honour boards having won many Championships and Trophies over her 50 years. Club Champion in 1990 and 1996 and six-time winner of the Ladies Foursome Championships in 1983, 1984, 1992, 1996, 1997 and 2000, J.J McDonough Mixed Foursome Champion in 1989, 1990 and 2000 and George Lowe Trophy winner with her husband Neville in 1995.
As well as her achievements on the golf course, Annie was a passionate trail blazer, introducing junior girls and young women to golf and spending many Sundays at the Club organising their golf clinics and helping develop their pathways into golf. Annie and Neville were also instrumental in the creation and running of the Daylight Savings Twilight competition, a popular and annual competition that endures today.
Annie was a passionate Golfer and Club Member whose outstanding contribution to the Warragul Country Club was given the ultimate recognition when elected as a Life Member of the Club in 2004. A great contributor, a friend to many and someone who will be sadly missed by all at the Club.
