Vale – Annie Boyer

Vale – Annie Boyer

The Board wishes to advise Members of the unfortunate passing of long time Club Member and Life Member, Annie Boyer. Annie joined the Club on 24th May 1972 and recently achieved the 50-year membership milestone. Throughout her 50 years, Annie made a significant volunteer contribution to our Club through her role on the Women’s Golf Committee, where she was President in 1999 and 2000, Captain in 2004 and 2005 and served over a decade, as Women’s Golf Handicapper. Annie also made a significant contribution to Women’s Golf West Gippsland, having been a member of their Match Committee for 20 years.

Annie’s name adorns our honour boards having won many Championships and Trophies over her 50 years. Club Champion in 1990 and 1996 and six-time winner of the Ladies Foursome Championships in 1983, 1984, 1992, 1996, 1997 and 2000, J.J McDonough Mixed Foursome Champion in 1989, 1990 and 2000 and George Lowe Trophy winner with her husband Neville in 1995.

As well as her achievements on the golf course, Annie was a passionate trail blazer, introducing junior girls and young women to golf and spending many Sundays at the Club organising their golf clinics and helping develop their pathways into golf. Annie and Neville were also instrumental in the creation and running of the Daylight Savings Twilight competition, a popular and annual competition that endures today.

Annie was a passionate Golfer and Club Member whose outstanding contribution to the Warragul Country Club was given the ultimate recognition when elected as a Life Member of the Club in 2004. A great contributor, a friend to many and someone who will be sadly missed by all at the Club.

Appointment of Director of Golf

Appointment of Director of Golf

The Club is delighted to advise Members that Anthony Bambridge has been appointed as the Club’s Director of Golf. Anthony would be well known to many Members in his role as Golf Professional at Drouin Golf Club which included management and operation of the Pro Shop. Anthony brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role and the Club is excited about the contribution Anthony will make in regard to developing and growing our golf operations, Member experience and Golf Membership.

Anthony’s appointment will see changes to the current structure of Golf Operations. Lee Dawes will transition into a devoted coaching role and will become the Club’s Head Teaching Professional. This will see Lee devote more of his time to golf training and coaching for current Members as well as expand his role into developing pathways for juniors and other potential new Club Members.  As part of the new role, Lee will expand his profile within the local community and in the local schools attracting new Members and new people to our sport. The Club will continue to work closely with Lee and ensure that the Club financially invests itself in the pathway programs that will grow golf and grow our Golf Membership base.

Lee and Anthony will continue to be supported by Craig McIntosh who will continue his role as Teaching Professional and Pro Shop services. Craig will continue to conduct and drive the very successful junior golf clinics year-round.

Heath Jones has been appointed to the position of Chief Operations Manager and will continue to play a key role in the strategy around golf development and Member experience at the Club. The Club is fortunate to have four outstanding PGA Golf Professionals in its Golf Operations team and as such it is well placed to deliver on its strategic objectives around golf development at the Club.

Should any Member’s wish to discuss the restructure further please feel free to contact me.
